Know Yourself, Know Your Self – Part V

I’m the kind of human being you can contact, whenever you need to talk, whenever you feel like you have no one else to talk to or when you have things to talk about, you just can’t share with friends or family. That is one of the reasons why I started that nonprofit. Not just to collect mnoey, but to provide a place people can turn to when they feel alone. All it takes sometimes is a little trust from your side and an ear, time and heart from someone like me.

I know what it means to have someone because a long time ago, when I needed an ear desperately, there was one person that took the time to listen to me. And that is why I feel like I want to give back to people what I have received. I know it is going to help a lot.

I haven’t made the world and not everything that goes wrong in it is always my fault. I just live in this world and part of the journey of live is to find your place in it. There are things I can’t change and I have accepted that fact.

But there are things that can be changed and I am here to help making this change.

Chicago Had Its Deadliest Month In Nearly 20 Years — And The Community Says It’s Being Ignored

Standard

Chicago’s gun violence is once again making national headlines, this time as the city ended the month of August with 92 homicides, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner ― the highest rate in almost two decades.

With more than 400 wounded, the month was the city’s deadliest since October of 1997.

Earlier this week, Fr. Michael Pfleger of South Side’s St. Sabina Church received three calls from three different community members who wanted to hold funerals at the church.

“In 41 years here, I’ve never had three calls for people being killed in one day,” Pfleger said. “I think the greatest concern is that it’s just seemingly getting worse.”

Wednesday evening during a protest, Pfleger called for Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner to declare a state of emergency for the city.

“If the city is broke, Chicago needs to be declared a state of emergency so we can get federal resources to come in,” Pfleger said. “I’m told we’re down 1,000 police officers; schools are underfunded and whole communities look like a tornado went through it.” …. continue reading here: Chicago Had Its Deadliest Month In Nearly 20 Years — And The Community Says It’s Being Ignored Source: Huffington Post

Witnesses Sought in San Bernardino Stabbing; Gas Station Assault Caught on Camera | KTLA

Standard

San Bernardino police are looking for witnesses Thursday after surveillance video surfaced showing a man being beaten minutes before he was killed.

Michael Reyes, 24, was last seen alive April 2 at the ARCO Gas Station in the 2600 block of West Foothill Boulevard around 4:25 a.m. Video surveillance from the gas station shows two men approaching Reyes and assaulting him, before chasing him in a white, early 90s Chevrolet Corsica or Buick 4-door.

Reyes’ body was found fatally stabbed ten minutes later, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.

“He was 24, he still had a whole life ahead of him,” Reyes’ mother told KTLA. “I just want them caught. It’s not fair that they’re out there still living their life and we’re grieving for my son, Michael. We’re never going to see him again.” … continue reading here: Witnesses Sought in San Bernardino Stabbing; Gas Station Assault Caught on Camera | Source:  KTLA
